The Department of Enterprise, Investment & Trade (DEIT) is committed to protecting your privacy. We handle personal information in a responsible manner and in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act). Service NSW acts as a shopfront for us and performs transactions for you, on our behalf.

The personal information you provide in your application is collected and held by Liquor & Gaming NSW (a Division of DEIT). Service NSW collect and hold personal information on our behalf as part of the application process.

What personal information do we collect?

Depending on the type of application you are making, the personal information that we collect may include the following information:

  • Your full name, gender, date of birth, place of birth, and contact details (address, email, and phone number)
  • Proof of identity information, which may include your photo identity documents, like a passport or driver licence and/or other proof of identity, including relevant documents for change of name
  • Qualification details, employment history and referee contact details
  • History of criminal offences and/or pending charges and National Police Certificate
  • Fee payment details.

Additional personal information is collected by Liquor & Gaming NSW for the applications and transactions relating to the Casino, Lotteries, Gaming Manufacturers and Totalizator operators:

  • Financial status/interests
  • Credit report
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia
  • An overseas police certificate if you have moved to Australia within the past 12 months
  • Current New South Wales security licence (if applicable).
  • Changes in financial circumstances.
  • Credit report
  • Income tax documents
  • Financial status/interests
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia
  • An overseas police certificate if you have moved to Australia within the past 12 months
  • Current New South Wales security licence (if applicable).
  • Attach evidence for every state or territory that you hold an existing registration

  • An overseas police certificate if you have moved to Australia within the past 12 months.
  • Proof of identity including a description of physical characteristics
  • Marital details
  • Names and details of family members
  • Previous residential addresses
  • Details or arrests, investigations or litigation
  • Citizenship/naturalisation certificate (if applicable)
  • Schedule of all assets and liabilities
  • Details of sources of funds/income
  • Tax returns and notices of assessment for the last three years
  • Evidence of tertiary qualifications
  • Armed forces discharge papers (if applicable)
  • Evidence of membership of a professional body
  • Credit report
  • Summary of employment history
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Trust financial statements (if applicable)
  • An overseas police certificate (if applicable).
  • Name, date of birth and residential details of company directors and officers
  • Largest 20 shareholders
  • Details of litigation involving the company Details of current debts and liabilities
  • Audited financial statements for the last three years
  • Tax returns for the last three years
  • Trust deed (if applicable)
  • Schedule of loan agreements
  • An overseas police certificate for directors (if applicable).
  • Proof of identity for company directors
  • National police check for company directors
  • Name, date of birth and residential details of company directors and officers
  • Schedule of gaming-related licences and approvals
  • Curriculum vitae for company directors
  • Last two audited financial statements of equivalent for a company
  • Credit report for the company and the company directors
  • Last two tax returns and notices of assessment for the company and for company directors
  • Schedule of current liabilities and loans for the company and the company directors, including the relevant financier(s) and details as to the purpose of the loan(s)
  • Details of any investigation or litigation concerning the company and the company directors.

We also collect additional personal information in supplementary forms if these are required for your application.

  • We may collect additional personal information of an authorised agent and interested party if it is required to satisfy the eligibility requirements for the licence. If you provide the personal information of any other party you must first obtain their consent for their personal information to be provided and managed in accordance with this notice
  • We collect your signature and related authentication details in connection with any documents you electronically or physically sign and provide to us
  • Applications may also request other personal information that it is voluntary for you to provide. Where we do this we will mark clearly that providing this information is voluntary.

How do we use your personal information?

We use the personal information collected in your application to:

  • process your application, including liaising with you in relation to your application
  • manage your licence or authorisation if your application is approved
  • confirm your details if you make any subsequent applications or enquiries in relation to any licence or authority issued by Liquor & Gaming NSW
  • administer/update our customer database, including to send you information that we consider important such as reminders to renew licences
  • email you to provide you with important information about your licence, including changes to licence requirements or obligations
  • enforce legislative requirements, undertake necessary intelligence assessments and investigations and other regulatory and law enforcement activities
  • support more informed policy making, program management, evaluation, research and service planning as it can facilitate more efficient service delivery for residents and business in NSW
  • publish information about your licence online if legislation requires that this information be recorded on a public register.

What happens if I do not provide my personal information?

Making an application is voluntary, so there is no requirement to provide us with your personal information.

If you do make an application and you do not provide the required personal information we will not be able to deal with your application.

What if I am providing someone else’s personal information?

If you provide another person’s personal information you must first obtain the consent of that person and advise that them that their information will be used in a way that is consistent with this privacy notice.

Will you disclose my personal information to any other person?

If required, we may make enquiries regarding your personal information with other NSW government agencies (including the NSW Police Force), or other States, Territories and/or the Commonwealth.

We may also share your personal information with these entities for the purpose of assessing your application, for reporting, licence administration and for regulatory, intelligence and law enforcement purposes.

We will not disclose your personal information to anybody else unless you have given consent, or we are otherwise authorised or permitted to do so by law.

How is my personal information stored?

Your personal information will be securely stored in electronic databases managed by DEIT and other NSW Government agencies who administer licencing databases. Access to your information will only be provided to individuals who perform functions related to your application.

You can request access to or correct the personal information we hold about you (if the information is inaccurate, incomplete, not relevant or out of date) by emailing information@enterprise.nsw.gov.au
