Evaluation of Gambling Research Australia

An independent evaluation of Gambling Research Australia (GRA) has found that collaboration between governments across Australia offers an effective way to deliver research on gambling and gambling harm.

GRA is a research partnership between Commonwealth, state and territory governments. It was established to deliver a gambling research program, focusing on areas of national significance.

The evaluation highlighted the value of GRA in providing evidence to inform decisions about policy, regulation and consumer protection.  It also found that GRA’s success lies in its capacity to bring together representatives from jurisdictions across Australia.

A mixed methods approach was used, including a review of GRA documents, supported by stakeholder surveys and interviews. It provides a valuable insight into GRA’s performance, contributions and potential areas for growth.

Findings of the report are currently being considered by the GRA Governance Committee.
