Roadshows to engage with hospitality and racing sectors

The NSW Government will hit the road for a series of special events to open direct dialogues with the hospitality and racing sectors in regional areas, with the first roadshow to be held in Newcastle on Tuesday 2 May.

Hospitality and Racing CEO Anthony Keon said the Regulatory Roadshows aim to engage industry, share the Government’s current regulatory priorities and hear directly from stakeholders about their experiences.

Mr Keon said a second roadshow would be held in Bathurst on Tuesday 18 July, with a further two to be held in other regional locations later in 2023.

“The hospitality and racing industries are both important to our economy and have great potential to stimulate job growth across NSW,” Mr Keon said.

“The regulatory roadshows are a great opportunity for industry members from licensed venues and race clubs to learn how the NSW Government intends to work with them, and for us to hear from them directly about their perspectives and challenges.

“The series will feature a range of speakers, interactive panel discussions and information booths showcasing the services available to the industries.

“We encourage liquor licensees and other key stakeholders to take this opportunity to engage with our regulators and provide valuable input on key issues affecting their sectors.”

The first roadshow in Newcastle will cover topics including compliance trends and focus areas, an update on liquor licence reforms licensing trends and industry training changes.

Mr Keon said the roadshow series is designed to facilitate knowledge sharing across the sectors.

“Industry participants can hear first-hand the issues that we will be focusing on over the coming period and where we will be targeting our regulatory efforts,” Mr Keon said.

“The series serves as a great networking opportunity and chance to promote closer collaborations between the Government and industry stakeholders.

“We are committed to working collaboratively with the hospitality and racing industries and help ensure our new priorities lead to tangible benefits for the sectors and wider community.”
