Compliance Inspection Activity

In anticipation of the Snow Season 2024, Liquor & Gaming NSW is reminding venues in the Alpine region of the need to ensure licensed venues prioritise safe and responsible service of alcohol during the Snow Season 2024.

What do venues need to do?

Venues should ensure that:

  • alcohol is served responsibly;
  • procedures are in place to prevent minors from being supplied alcohol;
  • there is an emphasis on crowd control; and
  • any promotions offered do not encourage the rapid consumption of alcohol or irresponsible drinking more generally.

What will Liquor & Gaming NSW Inspectors be checking?

During the Snow Season 2024, Liquor & Gaming NSW Inspectors will be conducting audits of licensed premises in the Alpine region to monitor compliance with liquor and gaming legislation with a particular emphasis on:

  • patron behaviour and intoxication
  • sale of liquor to minors
  • undesirable liquor promotions
  • compliance with any applicable licence conditions
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) accreditation
  • external gaming signage
  • compliance with gaming harm-minimisation legislation. More information about this is available in the INDUSTRY ALERT - concerns about ongoing non-compliance.

What are the penalties for non-compliance?

Permitting intoxication on a licensed premises or supplying liquor to intoxicated persons or to minors are some of the most serious offences under the Liquor Act 2007, and carry penalties of up to $11,000, 12 months’ imprisonment, or both. All such offences are also prescribed offences for the purpose of the Demerit Points Scheme.
